I strongly support the introduction of Private Member's Bill. It is one source of bi/multi-partisanship needed for consensus building. Good legislations often are derived from Private Member's Bills.

In direct response to Kantanka, however, I would like to caution that we better not make the Parliament some regulator of our Morals, even though we must expect that all Legislations are morally proper.

The lessons Ghanaians and African nations ought to learn are all around us. In the Americas the world does not qualify Canada's democracy with a noun or adjectival clause neither is there adjective distinguishing British and American democratic values. Why then do we accept the sub-par and all but useless description of the system of governance as African-level democracy?
What we have in Ghana or anywhere across Africa can never meet strict definition of democracy. Tempered freedom of speech and or a bought and paid for press by a party in power is not democracy. The independent institutions, the complete separation of the three branches of government, the oversight powers imbued in independent institutions are nowhere to be found in Ghana and or in any African nation and yet we tap ourselves on the back because of our meaningless title; just as the collection of meaningless degree holders that abound in Ghana and or in Africa.
