Thank very nuch for your presentation on the above subject matterB B. I admit or agree with you that there are all these injuctions in the African culture that seem to deny the youth the right to freely express their views, but there are privisos as well that allow them to make their representations on issues affecting them, if needs be. For example, it is said that the child who learns how to wash his hands properly is freely allowed to partake of meals at the table of men. That is to say that if you do things the right way, nobody will have any issues with you.
For a sustainable development of our cultures and society, it would be good to blend the best teachings of experience and the smart thinking of the youth.

Yes, you are partly right. Asking people to remove their shoes before talking to the Chief is a sign of respect. It is even done before entering the mosque and some churches. It is similar to removing one's hut or gloves when greeting an Elderly or Senior person. That is about culture and nothing wrong. Do you agree to why you have to use your right hand instead of the left to address your parents? This has no significance in the west. So please, not all is wrong.

In the first place, wher does NDC comes in here? This age-old phenomenom has been in our culture since time immemorial,so why talk about NDC.
Second, when NDC filled a lot of ministerial positions with young, vibrant and smart university graduates, YOU and YOUR ILK were and still are the same people who complain that NDC govt is full of 'babies' not oldies, who are about to go to their graves.
You would have got the support of most REASONABLE readers, if your your posting was devoid of politics.

"Shut up and let me speak". The writer, again should put this phrase in context. The only time your father, mother, Chief or any Elderly person uses the above phrase is when the so-called smart person tries to interrupt or intervene during an ongoing speech. And as we all know, it is the most annoying and rude behavior to put up with. One is therefore, asked to "shut up" as a form of discipline
