To the best of my knowledge, the immediate past IGP had a 5 year development plan, and I am sure the present IGP is adhering to the plan. That is the way organizations are supposed to function. Hopefully, other IGP's after this one will follow the plan and the Ghana Police Service and the citezens of Ghana will be the winners. Blankson, be wise and analyze properly.

Ankama, Blankson was wise and analysed properly. What is wise and proper analysis in your view, anyway? Nana Kow did what none of the loudmouths on this forum thought to do - commend the change in our policing. And he did it brilliantly. So we'll give praise where praise is due, in spite of you. If we grant your assertion that the former IGP had a 5 year development plan, how does the existence of a plan detract from the achievement of its effective implementation? "That is the way organizations are supposed to function" is not the same thing as 'That is the way organisations function.' There is no precedence in government or in any government service, department or agency where and when an incoming leader launches into the extant plan or agenda of his predecessor. If the IGP has done that, that in itself deserves commendation. We spent 56 years writing plans and left ourselves no time to implement them. Our problem in Ghana isn't the non-existence or lack of rule and regulations or/and the rule of law. No, no. Our problem is the non-enforcement of rules and regulation and the setting aside of the rule of law. We flout every guideline/rule/law with impunity. We live in impunity; we live with impunity. And the only reason impunity thrives, indeed reigns, is that the police service which is mandated with the responsibility of enforcement do nothing. So if Mr Mohammed Alhassan can inculcate the discipline of service and reawaken enforcement, he will have done his job excellently. The example of the wholesale transfer of MTTU personnel in Sunyani for corruption us the first ever example of anti-corruption in democratic Ghana.
Mr Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, the IGP, we applaud you. Nana Kow Blankson, kudos!

To add, the police standing at the various traffic lights should be well educated as to the different between when a vehicle is half way across the yellow light and have to complete the driving beyond the light instead the police on the lights on the 37 to abelemkpe road don't know the difference. It happen whilst I was driving a car I brought from the US and halfway across the yellow light and the police followed me that I have crossed a Red light. I explained to him it is right complete my driving whilst at halfway across the yellow light but the Police insisted I should drive into the bush and demanded to give him 40.00 cedis for crossing a red light, I told him I was half way crossed the yellow light and I have to complete the crossing. All I heard is let go to the office to process you for court. we got to the office and a lady came to counsel me to pay them 60.00 GHC than going to court, I tried to explained but where I was when they followed me to distance for crossing a red. my explanation was again on a dead ear. Enough on the new IGP is not playing trying to make sure all service members must try to do the right thing, but I suspect they should be more educated to when to stop a car on a traffic light. this will also boost the image of the Police service to add the excellent job the new IGP is continuing to that of his predecessor. However, Good Job being done.
