The buffoons who are suckering up to this fellow should remember that we don't get a free ride anywhere not even in the UK our former colonial master. The bare truth is if I have to go to the hospital in the US without insurance, I would be forking out anywhere between 20 to 8o times as much s an American who has insurance. What is more the American would easily qualify for government assistance while I would not. All the benefits that an American can derive for being an American are not available to me until I become an US citizen and the discretion is entirely mine as to whether I choose that option or not. The gentleman wants to have the best of two worlds and still not commit to any, that is a no...no. With respect to education, I have to pay more that 8x more than the ordinary American who is Attending College in state while the American attending college out of state pays only 4x more, this goes to emphasize that there are good reasons to aspire to American Citizenship and to the extent that you live in that country without becoming a permanent resident or a citizen for that matter then you must pay like any visitor. You couldn't even apply for certain jobs unless you are a citizen so lets for Christ sake stop suckering up to people like this and ask them to do the right thing by becoming citizen just as their spouses chose to do when they were on the receiving end of the stick.

Our hospitality should not be limited to allowing foreigners live in Ghana, but should also extend to caring for those in need. We should never forget, at least, the free education we have all had abroad....Wait a minute...I am talking about those who live in Ghana legally.

I won't comment and further explain on the subject because the content is clear on that. However, I see/read that some people are reacting in a matter of black/white foreigner/nationlist ways and even attacking me, and my country of birth, that are not the type of reactions I was waiting for.
Reaction of cost of Ghanaians traveling abroad have no relevance to my letter, I think we should compare teh right of me, legaly living here and Ghanaians living legaly in the Netherlands. Ghanaians legaly living in the Netherlands, pay the same tax, and enjoy the same costs as all other Dutch people, they are entiteled to the same healthcare, school grants and all social arrangements when they get unemployed, sick, invalid or un-employed. After being a legal resident for more then 5 years, they can vote in the Netherlands.
All I am doing and asking for are equal rights for all permanent residents in Ghana, nothing more nothing less. Nico (Nii Amartey) van Staalduinen
Everything is moving in the wrong direction
Why is such a serious issue politicised?
