But I did not see anything like that when I read the whole article. And people are just assuming your heading but not what you wrote in the article. Can somebody show me where in the article that tells us that Ghana imported millions of dollars worth of arms from Russia? And the readers here are so quick to make it NDC and NPP. Are there people who are educated and can really understand English in Ghana at all? Maybe we should start reading and writing in our mother tongue because readers and writers are just joking. And they are the real destroyers of this country called Ghana. The Media is so sick and it affects all who read it and that is the problem. Look at what you have written, with this title and read the article yourself. And all those who are posting comments here, read again what you posted. What is wrong with Ghanaians. This article is about how Russia is increasing her sail and export of arms as compared to the other countries among the top five. Nothing at all about Ghana.

Don't be too angry with the knee jerk comments on this page either because people after all react to their fears and suspicions and, don't you also forget perception is often reality.
Our memories may have dimmed a bit but we still remember it was this same NDC administration which in July of 2011 sought parliamentary approval for credit facilities to purchase 5 aircraft for the presidency and the military at the whooping cost of $250m. $17m was to be used to build a hangar to house 2 planes. These amounts were considered highly inflated and outrageously profligate by the opposition. Part of the deal was the $88m Embraer 190 Executive jet that was to serve as a "Strategic Airlift Aircraft for the Ghana Air Force.
We have also not soon forgotten the scandalous judgement debt of $51m paid by the NDC administration to Mr Agbesi Woyome, an NDC financier.
I hope these reminders will help you to understand the apprehension, the mistrust and legitimate contempt some of us have for this administration which a few months ago had approved nearly 70%salary increases for the presidency, judiciary and legislature, and to add salt to our injuries,backdated them to 2009 only to tell ghanaians at the beginning of the year that the "meat was down to the bone". Mr Francis Tawiah only succeeded in fueling our fire and indignation.Everything is okay with us at this point in time. The reality is we've not gone crazy yet, Mr Reality.You'll know when that happens because our patience is not inexhaustible.

This country is not at war and there's no imminent threat of external aggression or danger. Neither are we contemplating a pre-emptive strike on any nation.Our needs are of monumental proportions and since "the meat" is reportedly "down to the bone", doesn't it make sense to prioritize them, putting first things first? We don't want to be like North Korea where its government would rather buy arms than feed its hungry citizens.
In my opinion access to good drinking water, regular electrical power supply, abundant food supply and accessibility to quality education are of greater priority to the citizens than arms.The imprudent systemic inversion of our priorities has been a major cause of our under-development.
Security in Ghana, like in most independent African states has always been about the well-being and survival of those in power.The Russian manufactured arms bought with the taxpayers money will do nothing about human security,a people centered concept that summarizes the manifold basic needs to which all humans are entitled to. Is it any wonder that the Police service and the military in Ghana are often perceived as anti people? The Police service,especially, contrary to societal expectation has been used as a governmental tool of oppression and repression . It often shirks its basic responsibility as a community oriented institution. The corrupt Mahama led NDC administration may well be in the sack with the Russian gun manufacturers .The NPP administration which preceded the current was not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but they made better choices with the scarce financial resources at their disposal than this criminally negligent and corrupt NDC administration is doing with their self imposed "meat to the bone" economy.
