There were those who ridiculed my poetic craft, called my PhD into question, sought to reveal my true identity, etc. They have all eveporated like a brief drop of water in the Sahara. My problem is that you need to have a grip on your attitude and get yourself a decent personality. That imagination you appear to perceive is but a stretch of your own disgruntled self. How on earth could a PHD holder be so ignorant and why the hell should a sociologist be so perpetually closed to issues of human diversity? Is this the remnants of Ghanaian education or just the dregs of some ghetto PHDs. Never discriminate and never confuse fomenting discord with critical writing. We can criticise everybody and so should we be criticised be we ‘this or that tribe’. You breached the standard and it’s only a matter of time that you will understand that your behaviour was quite UNGHANAIAN.

You are displaying the same old person you are when you flunked the sciences and stuck to the humanity because you cannot think critically in chemistry and math. Akadu's poem is a fair and accurate description of what goes on daily in the country called Ghana. Besides, it's unmannerly, cowardly and repugnant to call her a stupid woman. We're stung in the offices by the people we have hired and elected as overseers of our national affairs.They're busy making a mint everyday at our expense.Instead of the administration making life a little more bearable for the average ghanaian they are engaged in reverse Robin Hood. Whilst one square meal is a luxury for millions of poor ghanaians they unashamedly add astronomical increases to their already fat salaries.As if that was not enough the increases were back dated 4 years. Haba! They just paid huge ESBs to themselves for very little or no work done. We have our local versions of Charles Ponzi and Bernard Madoff walking the corridors of political power.
Who's not aware that corruption has become our national creed and it afflicts a greater percentage of the population? Those crying foul and are livid are the ones who're either directly or indirectly engaged in this bleeding of the national economy or those who have directly or indirectly benefitted from this corruption scheme or who intend to be another cog in the well oiled corruption machine.Akadu Mensema is only doing her duty as a patriotic ghanaian but for those shady characters among us the truth is always a bitter pill to swallow. for

Parliament? Over the past twenty years, the Auditor-general has presented Parliament with a catalogue of Billions of cedis stolen from state coffers by ministries, government departments and other quasi organisations. Each time, the part in power has used itsmajority to stifle debate on these thefts. What qualified our parliamentarians for those hefty payments when we cannot pay doctors’ piddle allowances?

Police? Where else in the world will secure police exhibits of cocaine turn into sodium bicarbonate?

The Armed Forces? How much did it cost to renovate 37 Military Hospital?
Schools? How about professional teachers telling children “to come and pay for extra classes where the real examination stuff will be treated?” What kind of foundation is that?

Judiciary? What exactly did Woyome and all those crooks do for Ghana to deserve those hefty payments? And the man who engineered that is now heading a committee to vet ministers? What a joke! Carl Ploetner came to Ghana to construct the Takoradi-Axim Road. He was probably a labourer at a construction site in Germany. He made a mess of that road, went bankrupt, changed the name of the company to Construction Pioneers, and presto, he was given another job. He made a mess of it once again and disappeared from the scene. Then the NPP government sued him and he disappeared again. Somehow he re-appeared under Wofa Atta and managed to get some crooks to vet that they state of Ghana owed him money! God Almighty!

Water trickling in Accra and elsewhere? Chemicals that were meant to purify water for distribution came in over twelve months expired! And the people who did that are walking free in Ghana?

Dum so? At least Kuffuor’s government when faced with low water levels in Akosombo did everything possible to get electricity going for 8 years. By the time he was leaving, he had secured nearly 90% of the money required to complete the Bui Dam. Tullow was going to give the associated gas of the Jubilee production to the Government of Ghana FREE of charge. All the plans and designs for the power plant were in place, plus much of the funding for it. So why has it taken more than four years to get that plant on stream?

Presidency? Classroom blocks that cost 60,000 to construct in 2008 had shot up to 250,000 by 2009!

I can go on and on, but the thievery, dishonesty, incompetence and plain roguery displayed in Election 2012 is all symptomatic of a failing society, Greek style.

Where did Akadu go wrong? Why don’t we all come together and discuss things dispassionately and try to find solutions to them before our dear nation vanishes like its namesake of ancient times?

If you read Akadu's defences also, you will see that he is trying to extricate himself from his PAST wrongs on this forum.

None of those against Akadu is claiming that things are going well in our beloved country or that people are no thieves. They know that. But they don't want to hear that from Akadu. No!

You see, Kobena, not everybody has a short memory. Unless you're new here, you won't see it that way.

And when he mentions several tribes, it's a camouflage for his real targeted tribe(s). You come to this conclusion if you know Akadu well. If it is someone else writing the same thing, you won't be suspicious. You see, it is difficult to separate the bard from his verse.

It is important for the minstrel to take strong (even controversial) stands on moral issues when he is convinced he is on the side of righteousness but when such a stand is based solely on such a criterion as tribe (as Akadu has hitherto displayed on this forum), then the poet's very credibility is at stake. And once a poet is distrusted, nothing good he says thereafter is given a sympathetic hearing.
