  Lets get off this fallacy of govt to blame for even the slightest failures of business people bcos the foremost ingredient in any successful venture is passion for what you do.What has a failed businessman in USA to blame for yet he gets uninterrupted water & electricity?
  And remember the interruption of water & power in Ghana is less about govt and more to do with workers who don't care about their job.A work ethic is lacking in Ghana.

  Fiifi Kwetey, in a tiny way, is right but, he is wrong in more aspect. The "small fried yam seller or that small waakye seller..." has no capital to acquire the necessary machinery to make their products mass-produced let alone, expanding the business with the creation of more retail outlets. The same problem faces "that small carpenter". In the case of the carpenter, the import of cheap machine-made, do-it-yourself, packed products discourage efforts to improve. Because of the nature of both jobs, it is not difficult to get capital from the banks in the country and because of the free importation of cheap products from abroad, they cannot expand - tin and/or packed food products are plentiful in Ghana. Consumers, usually, prefer to buy cheaper products, especially as people are in dire economic situation.
