Johnny thanks so much for such a perfect and thoughtfully written piece and for taking us through the memory lane. Great piece!!!
Thanks to the monster Rawlings unforgivable fake socialist revolution that violently took our people hostage in a bloody coup for over 19 years, the indigenous Ghanaian industrialists were accused of all sorts of non substantive hatred by enviness from the non achievers campus poor rats like, the Kwesi Botweys, the Ahwois, Tsatsu and Kojo Tsikatas, E.T Mensahs, Tony Aiddoos, Kunadu Agyeman Rawlingses, Kofi Awoonors, Totobi Kwakyes, Sheily Ayiteys, Yaw Akrasi Sarpongs, P.V Obengs, Iddrisu Mahamas, who through dubious criminally political means are the super rich in our society today.
All those industries which gave employment to thousands of people in Ghana were all left to die after being confiscated and materials stolen by these unscrupulously criminal revolutionaries who turned round to own some of these factories for free.
How come Kunadu Agyeman Rawlings, the wicked heartless poor baboon be the owner the once state enterprises, Nsawam Cannery, La Palm Beach Hotel, Ghana House, State Fishing and the fishing boats, took over and sold Star Hotel and why did Kufour gave such a monster of a woman a Presidential pardon?

It is good but your facts about some of his businness dealings may not be right. We were a young nation therefore those leading should have led by example. What I heard was that he had an arrangement with Customs which allowed him to use the states monies ( excise duty which he collects from customers on behalf of the state) to finance his business. That is a crime against the state. You see, we must not see ourselves as the only stakeholders in the entity called Ghana. Take it for granted and you are doomed.

This is a great piece. I like the way it is ended. The so called business men in Ghana today are like the present day millionaires in Russia. They never worked for their capital. They were the very people who preached socialism. When socialism collapsed, they ransacked the state coffers and sold state enterprises to themselves. Today, there are more billionaires in Moscow than in any other city. How could this have happpended in just twenty years? That is how the business tycoons of Ghaana today are. People like P V Obeng and the Ahwois are the richest people in Ghana today. All the oil in Ghana 'belongs' to just a few families.

Great scene revisited! This eulogical narrative "puts tears into my eyes". There were similar hardworking affluent businessmen and women in Kumasi who suffered at the hands of JJR's PNDC, lost everything they worked for their entire life, and passed away dirt poor, as a result. Today, you have the culprit walking around, a free man.

How can this Guy, been the cief executive of the higher office in Ghana accord himself with prestige? who thought him how to file Taxes? If this is some thing he wants to be oprestinal in Ghana, why dont he involve every body, or all the civil servants.
There is a reggie music whic goes like this " He the voice of the Rasterman chanting..., Babylone rise and fall"
Ghana is aiming towards it down fall once again. No matter what you say, its in the open air. Untill the truth is discovered by all, there is a great opprtunity opened for the resuffle of the entire system controlling our beloved nation.
Flt. Lt. JJ Rawlings has come to do his, now its the turn for some one to also lift up the bunner of Justice and freedom for all.
how can a nation, almost a hundread years independence, still found itself in bondage? sill in the bottomless pit?
Allow people to speak their mind for the truth shall always make us free.
How dose this nation share its economic wealth? How can coruption be on the table of this fake politicans every morning as Tea and batter?

The day I stepped foot inside the (ITG)International Tobacco Group's walled compound around the New Times industrial area was unquestionably breathtaking. It housed the magnificent and posh headquarters with its surrounding office buildings. It was a bit of a culture-shock as I envisioned a workplace with such a well-manicured environs could only exist outside the country (perhaps somewhere in suburban US or the likes). Immediately upon entry it was spick and span, and the quality of air was clean and refreshingly different. As you make your way towards the offices, garden boys were all over the place actively mowing lawns and tending to trees, grass and flowers with water sprinklers spraying all around. Every plant was nourishingly green. I had gone to see a classmate who worked there and that gave me a first glance at how well-taken the employees were. I was led into her private and cool air-conditioned office room and heck she wasn't even yet a senior staff. At the end of the visit, and as I walked out of the premises my impression of a true Ghanaian Entrepreneur changed. The man had built and ran a real lucrative and classy business.

Nii Blukoo-Allotey; thank you for such a very nice piece. About ten years ago I wrote a piece on these Ghanaweb titled "Lest We Forget" partly summing up how Rawlings destroyed entrepreneurs such as Mr. B.A. Mensah and Mr. Siaw.
When you have a class of people, as we apparently have in Ghana, who are filled with jealousy; skin pain; and other degenerative mental hatred of the kind shown by Jerry Rawlings and his minions the nation remains under-developed.
Your article articulates and underscores, how people with hate-filled mentality; skin pain encumbrances; and demonic propensity to destroy what other build because they do not have the mental capacity and entrepreneurial moorings to appreciate how businesses are built and wealth is created, other than the looting of government money. B.A. Mensah was Ghanaian entrepreneurial giant.
