We need to make it more difficult to take strike action. We must set up an independent arbitration body which must be the first stop to settling industrial disputes.
There must be a cooling off period before strike action is pursued. Compulsory Ballots must be held by unions to decide strike action, and a clear majority of workers must vote and approve strike action. Ballots should be supervised by the EC, and results of such ballots must be published.

WHAT NATION ARE WE BUILDING?
Sleep today and you will wake up tomorrow to hear that your role models have embarked on a nationwide strike action. Approach the good educationist or medical doctor and he will inform you that they do strike to ring a bell. Is it not mind boggling and indeed much nagging?
Some Ghanaaians should help me find answers to these questions;
Should the strike actions be their last resort as role models?
Is it true that the nation’s labour issues have gone beyond the salvaging stage to where little or nothing could be done?
Is the strike the best way to resolve labour challenges?
Will you now agree to what Osafo Marfo (an Education Minister under the erstwhile J. A. Kufours administration said? (The famous statement; ‘Pastors would be paid to teach if the people in the profession would not teach’)
Can the force work/ security men also enjoy just a week strike for reasons like the SSSS not been suitable because they protect and defend the medical doctors, the pharmacists, graduate teachers, university / polytechnic lectures and teachers education workers union?
Can the NDC government provide jobs for the thousand unemployed graduates within two months when they also strike?
Is it also possible for our dear farmers to strike?
Do we as Ghanaians at all want to be well fed slaves or free hungry men?
Would we as a nation appreciate the taking of loan/grants from gay clubs/parties to be financially much self-sufficient in paying our dear workers? (Because the elite doctors, lectures, pharmacist and what have you, all believe in human rights. So we take it, become rich and allow it. If you say no, I ask why?
To be continued!

Why do you talk as though you are not a Ghanaian?. If workers give a set date to go on strike if their needs are not addressed, and yet the government ignores them, is it their fault or the government's??

And about employing people to fill in the gap, am sure you know the implication of using the wrong tool for the right Job. Yes indeed, alot of people are unemployed, but a proffessionals work can only be handled by a proffesional and no one else. Pharmacist, Doctors, Teachers, Nurses etc are proffesional and no mere unemployed person can replace them.................No wonder brain drain is on the increase....

Can you imagine the cost implications and life threatening issues when you pick people fromthe streets to be sent to fill vacancies in hospitals, schools,judicial officers etc. Young man do not block your sense of reasoning just because you are a political science student.
