A simple traffic management task by the police to slow and control traffic movement because of broken down vehicle has resulted in accident .why is because the police did not put cones or electronic signals "SLOW DOWN" about 500 meters away from the broken down vehicle to caution drivers to slow down as they drive this simple information and approach would ve prevented the accident ,the police must be equiped with modern traffic management equipments to control traffic and prevent accidents.

That is also a fault of the police,i noticed they stop vehicles without watching or thinking if the its safe to stop a vehicle at a particular time.

That trailer driver should be punished, was he looking ahead?.You don't drive at certain speeds when approaching a traffic light.Trailer drivers or i would say heavy duty vehicle drivers should be wary of this .

The breaking system of such big trucks is not the same as the small cars. You can't force them to stop promptly, so the police man should have taken the type of the oncoming cars into consideration before stopping them. Early warning signs should have also been given. In short the police did not act professionally.

My friend, that truck could have stopped easily if the driver were driving at a reasonable speed. He should be prosecuted if possible by death. Stupid senseless drivers on our roads.

I am sorry to say this but it appears Ghanaians don't know how to drive on a highway. Ever since this N1 Highways was constructed so many accidents have occurred. Even our old Tema-Accra motorway is no different. So many avoidable accidents have happened on it. Ghanaian drivers have to change their attitude towards driving. Just one or maybe two highways in Ghana and look at the way we are killing ourselves on it. Then if we construct more of NI highways in Ghana then I don't know what would happen. Yes, I know accidents happen, but the kind of accidents that happens in Ghana, most of them are avoidable/preventable.

They have constructed and opened these fast highways but they have not taught drivers the correct way of using the roads. Since I live in North America, I will use that as an example. On such fast dual or multiple lane highways, slow vehicles, like trucks, usually keep to the right hand lanes while faster vehicles use the left lanes. Should a slow vehicle need to overtake another vehicle, it moves into the left hand lane, overtakes and when it is safe, moves back into the right hand lane. In fact, the left hand lanes are usually not for driving over long periods; they are for overtaking and one is expected to move into the driving right hand lane after one overtakes another vehicle. In Ghana, you always see slow vehicles in the right hand lanes - they are simply not supposed to be there. I think it is about time that the authorities learn the rules of the road and teach the users.
