Seven vehicles involved in accident on N1 Highway

Seven vehicles are reported to have been involved in a serious accident on the N1 Highway just about 30 meters away from the Kwashieman junction.

An eyewitness who spoke to Joy News said the accident involved a trailer, 207 vehicle, two vans, two taxis and another vehicle carrying charcoal.

The accident happened after police arrived on the scene to signal to other drivers to slow down, when a KIA trayback carrying tons of charcoal broke down close to the traffic light at Kwashieman.

After the driver of a 207 benz bus complied, an incoming trailer carrying cement bags could not respond to the instruction as he appeared he couldn't apply his brakes sufficiently enough.

This was apparently due to the short distance from the scene of the broken-down KIA Trayback. He helplessly crushed into the 207 benz bus causing a ripple of accidents involving other stationary vehicles.

There were no casualties. The incident has created heavy traffic on the road.

More soon.
