A young woman, Selina Akumpisi, from Sokoban in the Ashanti Region, has dragged her partner, Sylvester Okoh, to Ahenfie TV’s Ahenfie Nkomo programme over a dispute concerning their relationship.
According to Selina, who took the matter to the programme, which helps resolve domestic and relationship disputes, she wants to end her relationship with Sylvester, but he has refused to let her go unless she compensates him for the money he has invested in her.
Recounting how their relationship began, Selina said that before 2021, while she was attending Adventist Senior High School and working at a wood factory, she met Sylvester, who proposed to her. However, she initially turned down his proposal.
She said that after completing school, Sylvester proposed to her again, and she accepted. The two subsequently began dating.
According to Selina, Sylvester took care of her financially, including supporting her with money to rent accommodation, and they initially lived together happily.

She said her family initially opposed the relationship because Sylvester is an Ewe, but she insisted on staying with him despite their concerns.
However, Selina now claims that Sylvester’s alleged maltreatment has forced her to seek an end to the relationship.
She further alleged that Sylvester had promised to attend church if she agreed to date him, but he has since refused to fulfil that promise.
Selina also accused him of publicly insulting and embarrassing her whenever he became angry, although she said he would later apologise after calming down.
According to her, she is no longer interested in the relationship and has moved on with someone else, but Sylvester remains opposed to the breakup.
“Whenever he hears anything about me, he won’t take his time; he would insult me, and when he calms down and I explain the issue to him, he will then apologise. He continued with such an attitude for a long time,” she said.
“So, I told him that we should break up because I can’t continue anymore, and he said he wouldn’t agree. So, he brought schnapps and eggs to curse me, saying that he has taken care of me, so he wouldn’t let me go.”
Sylvester, however, insists that he still loves Selina and says he will only allow her to leave the relationship if she pays him GH¢190,000 as compensation for the money he claims to have invested in her.
He also gave his side of the story, alleging that Selina had cheated on him despite the numerous commitments they had made to each other.
Sylvester further explained that he used to fellowship at the Action Chapel International (APC) church founded by Rev Obofour, but Selina told him she did not like the church and wanted him to attend her church, the Church of Pentecost.
According to Sylvester, he refused to switch churches, which subsequently became another source of disagreement between them.
