No Ghanaian child should have to belong to a political party, know an NDC executive, or have political connections before receiving help to secure a place in Senior High School. Our children must never be made to pay the price for their parents’ political affiliations.
Free SHS is a national policy, funded by the Ghanaian taxpayer, and every Ghanaian child has an equal right to benefit from it. Whether a child comes from an NDC family, an NPP family, another political tradition, or a family with no political affiliation whatsoever should be completely irrelevant.
This is bigger than party politics. It is about fairness, equality, dignity and the fundamental principle that every Ghanaian citizen deserves an equal opportunity.
If the FSHS Coordinator genuinely made these remarks, then I would expect the President and his government to distance themselves from them immediately and take decisive administrative action. Silence would only create the impression that political affiliation is being placed above citizenship.
Ghana must never become a country where access to public services depends on who you know or which political party you support.
Ghana belongs to all of us. Ghanaian children belong to all of us. And opportunity must belong equally to every Ghanaian child.
No child should be left behind because their parents chose the “wrong” political party.
