The Eastern Regional Coordinator of the Free Senior High School (FSHS) Secretariat, Charles Nyame, has made a controversial statement that has been circulating on social media.

Speaking at the Comrades Care Fund event at Asamankese in the Lower West Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region, the coordinator stated that the government was willing to support parents whose children were facing difficulties securing Senior High School placement but suggested that such assistance would be available to members and executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, party members who had sacrificed and worked for the NDC over the years should be able to enjoy the benefits of their efforts.

He explained that, as the Eastern Regional Free SHS Coordinator, he was willing to assist anyone who approached him with concerns about SHS placement, provided the person was an NDC member or executive.

“Our mothers and fathers who have been with the NDC for a longer period of time, we will make sure you benefit from the party. Even if you do not benefit, your children and grandchildren will benefit.

“As I talk to you, I am the Free SHS Coordinator for the Eastern Region, so if your child needs admission into a school and you’re an NDC member or executive, we will do it for you to get a school,” he said.

Meanwhile, the SHS placement exercise has been met with concerns following reports that more than 55,000 students have yet to secure placement.

Some aggrieved parents have been visiting resolution centres with complaints over difficulties encountered during the placement process.

While some parents claim that the schools assigned to their children were changed after they had printed their initial placement results, others say their wards are yet to receive placements.
