The Ministry of Education has warned parents, guardians and students against fake and digitally manipulated Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) placement slips being circulated on social media.

According to the Ministry, some unscrupulous individuals are altering placement slips and sharing them online while falsely claiming that the Ministry has changed students’ original school placements.

In a statement dated September 9, 2026, and signed by the Press Secretary to the Ministry, Hashmin Mohammed, the Ministry described such claims as "false and misleading".

It noted that preliminary internal verification had revealed that some of the placement slips being circulated did not correspond with records generated from the official CSSPS platform.

The Ministry further noted that the barcodes and QR codes on the purported placement slips did not match the placement information displayed on the documents being circulated as evidence of alleged changes.

“Furthermore, the Ministry’s system and audit logs do not support the claims being made by the individuals circulating these materials,” the statement said.

The Ministry said evidence available to it indicated that the affected documents had been digitally manipulated or otherwise altered to create the impression that students’ placements had been changed.

It said it had consequently referred the matter to the Cyber Security Authority and other relevant security agencies for further investigation and appropriate action.

While urging the public to exercise caution and refrain from sharing unverified placement slips or claims on social media, it reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the 2026 CSSPS placement exercise is conducted with transparency, fairness, integrity and accountability.
