Some parents have expressed outrage over the 2026 Senior High School Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) after their wards allegedly failed to secure the schools of their choice.

The placement system, which was released on September 4, 2026, has generated controversy after more than 55,000 students reportedly failed to secure school placements.

As a result, many parents have been visiting officials responsible for the placement process in search of schools for their wards.

Thousands of parents have thronged the GNAT Hall in the Greater Accra Region and other designated centres to seek redress and resolve issues relating to their children's placements.

Speaking to the media, some parents expressed frustration over what they described as irregularities in the placement process.

One parent said his son, who obtained an aggregate of 7, initially secured Achimota School, only for the placement to change when they attempted to print the placement document.

“My son got aggregate 7 and his first choice was Achimota. This is a screenshot of what he saw when he checked his placement. He got Achimota. I was not around when he checked, so he took a screenshot yesterday, and I came for us to go and print it out so we could go to the school.

“We went to the café and we realised that they had changed Achimota School and given us Swedru Senior High School. Just look at this. Even Swedru Senior High School was not part of his selection.

“When you check the system, someone has forged it as part of the schools he selected but that wasn’t part of it. This is robbery; this is a crime. You can’t tell me that the computer chose a school that my son didn’t select. This is deliberate. Someone has forged and changed it. One woman experienced the same thing; they changed her son’s placement from Prempeh College, “ the angry parent said.

Another parent questioned the placement of his son at a school for the deaf, despite the child having no hearing or speech impairment.

“My son can hear and can speak, so how do you place him at Mampong Akuapem School for the Deaf? That is what I don’t understand. They said if my child wants a Category B school or a STEM school, it will require protocol.”

Another mother said her child initially secured Accra Academy but the placement changed after she printed the document.

“My child had Accra Academy, and after printing it out, the school changed to a school in Kasoa as a day student. I didn’t even choose that school.”

Another parent also alleged that some officials were demanding money to facilitate placement.

“They were charging GH¢13,000 at Kasoa, so we came here to GNAT for a solution. But at this place, they don’t even mind us.”

The parents are calling for urgent intervention to address what they describe as irregularities in the 2026 SHS placement process and to ensure that students are placed in schools based on their actual choices and qualifications.

“My child had Accra Academy after printing and doing everything, but it has now changed to a school in Kasoa as a day student. It won’t help us. We have been here since dawn.”
