Internet banking transactions in Ghana rose sharply in 2025 as more people turned to digital banking and payment services.
The total value of internet banking transactions increased by 80.7%, from GH¢212.44 billion in 2024 to GH¢383.82 billion in 2025.
According to the 2025 Payment Systems Oversight Annual Report, the number of internet banking transactions also increased from 26.06 million in 2024 to 47.59 million in 2025.
Mobile banking also recorded strong growth during the year.
The value of mobile banking transactions increased by 130.5%, while the number of transactions rose by 31.6%.
The Bank of Ghana said the growth indicates that more people are becoming comfortable using digital platforms to send and receive money instead of relying mainly on cash.
The central bank attributed the expansion of electronic payments to improvements in technology, efforts by banks to enhance digital services and a strong regulatory framework.
