Former Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Dr Kingsley Agyemang, has denied allegations of wrongdoing linked to the award of scholarships during the tenure of the previous administration.

His lawyers, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, in a statement dated Thursday, August 13, 2026, said their client was concerned about recent public comments by Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Sabah Zita Benson.

According to the lawyers, the comments were aimed at reviving what they described as a “false and misleading narrative” about Dr Agyemang.

The lawyers said their client performed his duties as Registrar with diligence and has fully cooperated with ongoing investigations into the scholarship allegations.

“Our client maintains that he executed his work as former Registrar of the Scholarship Secretariat with utmost diligence and therefore denies any wrongdoing,” the statement said.

The lawyers further questioned the decision by the High Commissioner to discuss the matter publicly while investigations by state security and investigative agencies are ongoing.

They argued that the appropriate institutions should be allowed to complete their work rather than having the matter debated in the media.

“In the circumstances, the High Commissioner’s resort to the media to publicly berate our client rather than allowing the appropriate security and investigative bodies to discharge their mandate is regrettable and unwarranted,” the lawyers stated.

The legal team also claimed that this was not the first occasion on which the High Commissioner had made allegations against their client despite the ongoing investigations.

They said Dr Agyemang had made himself available to the relevant state agencies and had “fully cooperated with them” to ensure that the allegations are thoroughly investigated.

The lawyers said their client’s objective was to have the matter resolved conclusively and his name cleared if the investigations found no wrongdoing.

They described Dr Agyemang as a law-abiding citizen who remains focused on serving his constituents in Abuakwa South and respecting due process.

“Our client is a law-abiding citizen who remains focused on faithfully discharging the mandate entrusted to him by the good people of Abuakwa South and is firmly committed to the rule of law and due process,” the statement added.

Dr Agyemang, the lawyers said, remains confident that the ongoing process will establish the facts.

“He remains confident that in the fullness of time, the truth will prevail, and he will be vindicated,” they stated.
