Newly installed leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Nana Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr., popularly known as Akofena, has declared that he now regards his siblings as his children, adding that he is ready to reconcile with his elder sister, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Speaking during a public address on July 27, 2026, Akofena said his new role as head of the Kristo Asafo Mission had changed the nature of his relationship with his brothers and sisters.

“They’re no longer my siblings. They’re now my children,” he said.

He further disclosed that he intends to invite his eldest “child,” Sarah Adwoa Safo, to resolve the family’s longstanding differences.

“Together with the family heads, I’ll call the eldest of my ‘children,’ Adwoa Safo, so we can settle our differences,” he stated.

Akofena’s remarks come weeks after a bitter succession dispute within the family of the late Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group, escalated into violence.

On June 21, 2026, former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot injury during the installation of Akofena as the new leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.

Several suspects, including Akofena, were subsequently arrested and later granted bail.

Earlier this month, an Accra High Court affirmed Akofena as the rightful successor to lead the Kristo Asafo Mission following the reading of the late Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s will.
