Nana Nkansah Buadu, Chief of Agric Nzema in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has lambasted former Chief of Staff and leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Kojo Mpiani over what he described as the latter's lack of support for the party.

According to the chief, Kojo Mpiani has done little to support the NPP, particularly in his own constituency, despite being one of the party's senior members.

He further accused the former Chief of Staff of engaging in activities that are detrimental to the party.

He claimed that throughout Kojo Mpiani's lifetime in the NPP, his total financial contribution to the party amounted to only GH¢700.

"I am disappointed in one of the elders. Yesterday, he attended the Steering Committee meeting even though he is not a member of the committee.

"Former Chief of Staff Kojo Mpiani controlled everything when he was in office. He comes from Yamoase. Ask him what support he has given to the party or to his constituency over the years.

"From the beginning until now, the only support Kojo Mpiani has given the party is GH¢700. If he thinks I am lying, he should come out and deny it, “ he said.

Nana Nkansah Buadu's comments follow the cancellation of the NPP constituency executive elections in Afigya Sekyere East.

The chief, who is also the Chairman of the Council of Elders for the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency and a member of the Ashanti Regional Council of Elders of the NPP, insisted that the election was conducted in accordance with the party's rules and due legal processes without any irregularities. He therefore sees no justification for the party's decision to annul the results and order a re-run.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, he accused the national leadership of the NPP of having vested interests in some of the constituencies whose elections were annulled.

He warned that no fresh constituency executive election would be allowed to take place in Afigya Sekyere East.

Nana Nkansah Buadu also cautioned the NPP General Secretary against continuing to challenge him, warning that he would publicly expose him if the situation persisted.

The chief maintained that no one would be permitted to conduct fresh constituency executive elections in Afigya Sekyere East despite the party's decision to invalidate the earlier results.
