Private legal practitioner and activist, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has weighed in on the case involving Kwame Baffoe, describing the prosecution as an embarrassment and calling on the Attorney General, Dominic Ayine to discontinue the matter.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, May 14, 2026, Barker-Vormawor shared a copy of the amended charge sheet filed at the Accra Circuit Court and wrote: “File Nolle Prosequi in this matter! This is just embarrassing.”

A nolle prosequi is a formal notice by the Attorney General indicating that the state does not intend to continue prosecuting a case.

The charge sheet shows that Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, is facing two counts of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace and publication of false news.

According to the prosecution, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) allegedly made remarks in April 2026 directed at a circuit court judge, including statements that the judge was “not a judge but rather a politician” who had “covered your hair with a sack and claim you are a judge.”

Abronye rearrested and remanded - Reports

The prosecution argues that the comments were abusive and likely to disturb public peace.

In the second count, prosecutors allege that the same remarks, which circulated widely on social media, amounted to false news likely to cause fear and panic.

The charge sheet identifies Baffoe as a 44-year-old farmer and lists Deputy Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Nyamekye as the prosecuting officer.

Barker-Vormawor’s reaction has sparked debate online, with some agreeing that the charges appear excessive, while others insist that attacks on judicial officers should be dealt with firmly through the courts.

Abronye DC was remanded into custody by the Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and is expected to reappear before the court on May 27, 2026.
