One person has been confirmed dead following a violent armed robbery attack on a passenger bus on the evening of Saturday, 2 May 2026.

The incident involved a VIP bus, with registration number AS 4941-25, which was intercepted by gunmen along the Walewale–Nasia Road while travelling from Zebilla to Tamale.

The assailants opened fire during the ambush, killing one passenger and injuring five others.

The injured were swiftly evacuated to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary.

Beyond the physical casualties, many of the passengers have been left severely traumatised by the incident.

Police authorities have launched an investigation and are currently pursuing the suspects to bring them to justice.
