Media personality and host of Peace FM’s morning show Kokrokoo, Kwame Sefa Kayi, has rendered an apology to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, after referring to him as someone not fit to be a role model for others.

Speaking on his Kokrokoo show, excerpts of which have been shared on social media, veteran journalist and Managing Editor of The Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., referenced Chairman Wontumi’s claim that Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is not from the Central Region and is allegedly having an affair with the President.

During the discussion, Sefa Kayi interrupted, saying, “Please, sometimes we entertain nonsense in this country. Kwesi, you have a grandchild and if we are looking for a role model, will you point to Wontumi for your grandchild? Would you point to Wontumi as a role model for your grandchild? For me, no.”

The journalist’s attention was later drawn to the comment, which some considered offensive toward the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, who is seeking election as the party’s National Chairman.

Responding to the backlash, Sefa Kayi said, “If it is below the belt, I apologise and I take it back. So those of you who find it offensive, I take it back and I apologise to Chairman Wontumi.”
