Plugins, I strongly side with you. The first place of evaluation and treatment of the young woman’s problems is at the Mental Hospital. It is good that the father has taken her to the hospital but if her situation is a Mental One, not every Medical Doctor or Hospital can help treat her She needs to be taken to MENTAL HOSPITAL where she can be treated by Mental Specialists. I am a Christian and believe in Spiritual Healing but the Physical Healing should not be relegated to the background. I am well read and researched much into African Traditional Religion. Even if the parents want to try Spiritual Healing for the young lady, the emphasis should be on Western Orthodox healing and that should be done as soon as possible before things get out of hand because with time, mental illness also develops. If care is not taken, the lady’s situation can get out of hand. There is nothing wrong combining Spiritual and Physical attempts at helping the lady. I have studied Traditional African Religion for many years. I know that if one continues to go the Traditional method of healing, the Spiritualists will always have something to tell you to put some fear in a person, and to let people believe in them, even when they know very much that what they are saying is not true.
Some time ago when I was studying at the Cape Coast University, there used to be a Western Mental Hospital at Ankarful which is near Cape Coast. I think that there also used to be one very popular and well known Mental Hospital in Accra. The parents can contact the various Regional Hospitals and find out the best one and the one closest to them. They can contact the Ministry of Health for help. They should not all their hopes in the Spiritual healing of Mental issues.
