HOW MANY OF THOSE ARTICLES HAVE BEEN CITED BY OTHERS AND HOW MANY TIMES (pssss! I heard 3 articles with no citations for any of them. That wouldn't earn you a Professorship)

I don't disagree with the efforts he is making to weed out the fake titles. Those who bought them from unaccredited institutions, and those who got them from online Universities, such as WALDEN UNIVERSITY, in subjects that have no accreditation, but are flouting them around for the uninitiated. They need to be stopped. (Not all subjects at Walden are accredited.) In the same vein, the invigilator also needs to prove that he got his Professor title genuinely. It is not easy to earn a PhD from an accredited University.

The question for Prof Jinapor Abdulai and GTEC is this: is the title Prof a lifetime earned title in Ghana and globally? What I know is that there are titles that are awarded by professional organizations and some by institutions that requires what those entities classify as continued education classes to retain the title. The continued education classes are supposed to keep members up to date on new literature happenings within the profession or organization.

How does a Ghanaian prof who last taught a class some 5, 10, 20 or more years ago gets to be called Prof? From where I sit GTEC and Prof Jinapor Abdulai should verify the credentials of those claiming to have acquired postgradute degrees especially PhD/doctorate degrees from outside Ghana. A PhD holder that continues to offer instructions via online/telecast or on campus does not have to justify a "Prof" title to anyone for 2 reasons: 1. There's no crime and there is a precedent 2. Did GTEC and Jinapor Abdulai ever verify the credentials of ex-president Akufo-Addo? If so why did he or GTEC not put an end to the saga; if not why not and why now?

Perhaps Prof Jinapor Abdulai and GTEC can fight to stop Ghana government administrations from by-passing or overlooking masters level and PhD holders from Ghana tertiary institutions to select candidates with similar or less degrees from abroad for top paying government jobs if it is jealousy or implied under tone of inferior Ghana post graduate degree system that is at the root cause.

Personally, to have a government entity fight a Ghanaian not about the doctorate/PhD they'd earned outside of Ghana but because of the title Prof is a joke. Ghana has hundreds of practicing lawyers, who by their utterances, cannot logically distinguish the top of their heads from their feet but are called lawyers the same way a myriad of wannabe talking heads at media houses call themselves journalists when they are but spoon-fed political hacks.

I think that the GTEC has committed what can be described as a fallacy of category mistake. These are the reasons:
1. The American system of employing faculty members is different from the British system. Most public universities in Ghana follow the British system, where individuals are employed as assistant lecturers, lecturers, senior lecturers, associate professors, and so on. The American system starts from and depends on the advert, which may start from Assistant professor to Associate professor to full professor.

2. Take note that a professor is not an academic rank; it is just a recognition, but the most important thing is that the academic rank is a doctorate.

I believe the Gtec representative should be more concerned about the honorary doctorate holders who present themselves as such.

4. The journalists in Ghana have contributed to these problems because they are quick to give titles such as black historian,etc

We need more education on this subject matter. Professor Dr. Ayensu has the right to hold herself as such, and the Gtec professor is ignorant of the American system

How can a person without a single paper to his credit recognize by scopus be the head of tertiary education council of a nation. President Mahama going to Singapore right. For them, the norm is MPH. Merit, pragmatism and honesty. First is merit, thus the needed competence. I think the GTEC head Ahmed Jinapor lack that and so he is causing financial lost to the state.
