I have known Accra flood since May 1994 in the days of JJ exactly 30 years ago and since then every May we see a flood disaster. Why dont we change the capital to different place? Why should we waste tax payers money on one problem every year without any sign of changing for the better? Accra is choked, ugly and dirty we need a new capital.

WHERE IS THE DEPUTY ENVIRONMENTAL MINISTER AND WHERE IS THE MONEY TO COMBAT FLOODING?
Yes I agree with you, this problem has persisted for decades so we can’t really blame this current government however, the fact that no one has done anything about it shows how bad our governments have been. Changing a capital is probably the most expensive project we can ever undertake. The country called Netherlands is below sea level but they don’t experience flooding. It can be done cheaper by redirecting the water somewhere but the simple fact is that for decades, we have had governments who have cared less about the country. They spend all the money we generate in very unnecessary projects, mostly never completed, and pocket the rest so there isn’t any money left. You can trace this issue back to corruption. Remember the deputy environmental minister who had millions in her house? Where did she get the money? This are monies that could improve your the situation.

Personally, this is no news as it's annual rituals since about 4 or 5 decades ago. It will rather be a news worthy when no floods occur after rains. Government after Governments have taken steps to address Accra floods but the major cause of the floods is partially due to government's actions and inactions and partially due to the residents themselves. I remember I walked from circle to Mamprobi Agege due to floods somewhere in 1993. Even if 1993 was the first time that Accra started experiencing floods, it's been over 30 consistent years and it keeps spreading to other areas which hitherto were not flood prone. It's due to stupidity and stubbornness that has made it worse.
