The laws of the land are clear on matters of this nature and specify the consequences for same. Let those who are vested with the power to enforce the law do their job. Be reminded that as soon as the lgbtq bill becomes law, Sam George and his colleagues who tabled the bill shall have done their duty and cannot be called upon as an enforcing authority. While their personal opinions as individuals or public officials may carry weight, they cannot in any shape or form influence the letter of the law. Let us allow the law and its enforcers to do their constitutionally mandated duties.

I’m not PRO-LGBTQ+, and would never be. The fact is that the NDC proposed that law as a political tool to hoodwink Ghanaians by implying that NPP is a pro gay lesbian party. Meanwhile non of the NPP leaders is ever caught in a gay lesbian relationship like John Mahama, the current leader and the flag bearer of the NDC party.

What about the second most highest ranking member of the NDC party? I’m talking about the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament , Mr Alan Bagbin, was he not also implicated for sleeping with a 17 year old girl who happens to be his wife’s sister? Though he claims that the girl was 17 years old at the time; and so he couldn’t be cited for crime since the age of 16 years is considered legal in the Ghanaian constitution, but was the case investigated? Was it ascertained that the relationship started after the Girl turned 17? Even if that relationship was consensual it still falls under the sexual exploitation clause, isn’t it?

Now what’s the difference between a whole MP breaking the law by sleeping with a girl who was under his care and the current issue under discussion? Why is Sam George quick to accuse the NPP as PRO LGBTQ+ whiles two of the most leading figures in his party have been caught red handed in the Acts? This is hypocrisy in the highest crescendo! I SHALL RETURN!

If any of these representatives fails a child, the state must intervene and assume responsibility for the child. This is what must happen in this 12 year old child’s case. Grooming a child for sex is a crime and the 63 year old needs to be investigated. Ghana must not be reduced to a jungle with no laws!
