This is lawlessness. If it was agreed that journalist should attend the event based on accreditation why shouldn't Oyerepa TV journalists show their accreditation if they obtained one? Or did they expect market women to inspect the accreditation instead of the Police? What a nation!!! Journalist must show good example because they are the ones that open their mouths 360° wide to report on matters. We are watching.

The Police has no business asking for accreditation ID from persons when the event (funeral) is a private one. The Police will have had a legal mandate to ask for same if the occasion was a public one. The use of Police to do PRIVATE security work in Ghana need to stop. In other jurisdictions, police uphold the peace of the public. Just because elected politicians are in attendance does not mean the event is a public event. Let’s create the environment for private security to thrive so that the teeming youth can be employed as marshals and private security for these kinds of events and the police can serve as quick response for when the need arises and the private security call upon them to act.

Once public officials including the President were in attendance, it ceased to be a private event. At any rate the police have the right to arrest on reasonable suspicion and the right to use minimum force to compell you to comply to their direction. Let us train our journalists accordingly before we unleash them unto the public!
