This threat makes no sense to me. The verification fee is for nurses and midwives who want to relocate and seek greener pastures elsewhere. These emigrants may even be required to join another labour/professional bodies in order to work wherever they go. Meaning they may even abandon these unions (GRNA, NMC). So, what is the sense of holding Government and Ghanaians for that matter to a ransom of embarking on an industrial action? We seem not to understand this whole labour union thing in Ghana. Which kind of solidarity is this one?

You are very stupid. Average salary of Nurses and Midwifes is about ¢2,200.00 and you increase fees for a service which is purely clerical and which should actually be free to ¢2,500.00. These professionals pay yearly license fees, why should they pay any additional fee for a document that attests to this same license. Is it a crime for people to seek better conditions of service or pursue further studies abroad. What madness and wicked is this. Government should very careful as they are on a slippery road to opposition.

I am not a nurse or Midwife, but i can understand their plight. Movement of labour is a right recognised the world over. So, if you have a country where if one is not a politician, no matter how hard one worked in terms of career development, number of years of service, etc., one can't make earns meet, then there is a problem. So, if workers decide within their right to move/relocate, you don't block them by imposing unreasonable fees to stop them. What prevents the government of Ghana from improving on workers conditions to halt this exodus?
How many years did John Kumah work as an MP and has 4 V*s, several other cars, houses and properties? Sir John, Eugine Arhin, etc use their political office to amass wealth which one can't imagine. My daughter is a midwife who will leave Ghana if things are not improved. So Whether they remain members of the GRNMA or not is not an issue. They just want a smooth way such that if one decides to leave, s/he is not obstructed.

It sometimes appears as if the more Africans educate themselves, the more they become stupid and backward. I don't understand this at all. I mean did full grown adults sit down and Jack up the cost of this verification process to this level in a primitive economy where even common water and electricity cannot be guaranteed?? What is/was the cause or logic of even charging for this verification process?? Is it spite, jealousy or just sheer hatred that prompted these astronomical charges?
I am not a nurse nor a medical worker of any kind but I am a member of the public who cares about the welfare of nurses because I believe that if nurses in this country were treated better and suitably remunerated by the authorities, they would stay in the country and treat patients better instead of resorting to seek verification certificates to enable them escape from the pure hell that this country has become.

Many trained nurses, especially those from the private nurses training schools, remain unemployed over seven or more years after their completion of school.
Those who are lucky to be employed are poorly paid and remunerated and equipped at the various health care centers.
Meanwhile, there is a Presidential Jet and 50-cars motorcade for the Knucklehead President`s security & comfort, and the 4-year Ex-Gratia remuneration to our Dishonourable MPs, among others.
Truly, this NPP gov`t is another disaster in the history of Ghana.

Nice one. Admittedly it is sad that our nurses are leaving the country in droves. But this govt has made life so unbearable that lawyers, electricians, accountants, engineers, carpenters, plumbers, writers, secretaries, bankers, mechanics, lecturers and everyone else even including the unemployed are freely leaving en mass without having to pay for this ridiculous verification process. Why is the system bullying badly paid nurses to pay for this extortionate process?
Just a few years ago, I was one who stood firmly against the youth opting for the "greener pastures" phenomenon. Today, I am assisting anybody who i can to resort to what has now become the only available means of a decent life for the upcoming youth.

This is clearly a move to discourage Health workers from travelling outside to seek better sources of income. Meanwhile the salaries of Health workers remain very bad in the light of very expensive cost of living in Ghana. So the MOH and government want Health workers to remain poor?. All those who sat in meetings and came up with this nonsense fees must be made to resign or sacked with immediate effect.
Check like the ruling party wants to go to opposition.
This is nonsense.
