I totally disagree with Prof on this one. Those advocating for blackout are losing a fact. The media operate under the philosophy publishing stories that are news worthy. So I ask is the Prof saying that if today the Minister in question is alleged to have raped or stolen from his office the media will still not publish such story? Who loses and who gain in that instant. Yes media blackout on Punlic Relations events can be understandable. If this decision is allow to stand then politicians may better attack journalists whiles in office to avoid accountability. The blanket decision must be reconsidered. In fact encouraging media practitioners to rather report on such persons but adding a description of his/her bad deeds in a line along side the story would scare them off. For example: The deputy minister of .......who once assaulted a citi fm reporter has ........such a method would work better than blackout. That bad action of the public servant must always be part of any story written about him until legal solution is found. If the GJA leadership truly want issues of that nature to be resolve as fast as possible, black out on police PR would force the administration to act quickly. Criminal offence must be treated equally no matter the who is the perpetrator.
Farouk Aliu Mahama is a rat. Very foolish swine
