He planned to be buried there, they would name it after him, and years later, when Ghanaians may have forgotten, his family would them claim the area to be a family property. Remember Akufo Addo's presidency is a personal sacrifice for his children, grandchildren and their generations.

That is why Akuffo Addo can never match Kufour's legacy as a leader. Kufour would have ignored all the ndc noise and built the cathedral. Leaders are defined by the decisions. The NDC opposes everything from the new cedi, nhis, Jubilee house, free education, you name it. Accra as the capital of the modern state of Ghana has no monuments and we need leaders who can envision a modern Accra. This cathedral would have paid for itself in about a decade from tourism, weddings and other events alone. Not building the cathedral is Akuffo Addo worst failing as a leader. By promising God and not fulfilling his promise, he has failed God and failed Ghanaians. Few are able to achieve such a feat - disappointing humanity and divinity. Well done Nana!
