Waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has taken up the task of keeping the Manhyia Palace and its environs clean while the funeral of the late Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II is ongoing.
The weeklong celebration of life which was attended by President Akufo-Addo and the vice president Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, also saw other prominent figures such as former president John Agyekum Kufuor and some government officials, coming together to mourn with the entire Asanteman.
Representatives of institutions and a host of dignitaries as well as members of the general public were also present.
The hefty attendance resulted in an increase in the generation of waste in and around the palace.
According to Benedict Awuah, the Ashanti Region Operations Manager of Zoomlion, the company in collaboration with the planning committee outlined a number of measures to ensure safe environment before, during and after the funeral celebration.
Some of the measures, he said, include a round-the-clock team of cleaners to clean the accumulating filth.
He added that supervisors had also been placed at vantage points to ensure the smooth operation of all efforts that have been put in place to maintain the cleanliness of the Manhyia palace.
Litter bins and convenience cabins have been put at vantage points to avoid indiscriminate littering.
