Rawlings receives Airbus Industries executive

Accra (Greater Accra), 23 April, Mr. Jean Paul Grimal, Vice-President of Airbus Industries, today called on President Jerry John Rawlings at the Castle, Osu, and their discussions centred on co-operation between Ghana Airways and the Company. Airbus Industries is an aircraft manufacturing company and is owned by France, Germany Britain and Spain. President Rawlings said in seeking to do business in Ghana, Airbus Industries should take note of the country's high standards in aviation as far as safety is concerned. "We expect nothing less. We want to maintain that high reputation". Mr. T.A. Selby, Director of Aviation, Ministry of Roads and Transport, said the Ministry has plans to divest Ghana Airways and discussions are going on with companies for the best offer. He said in seeking the best offer attention would be paid to "training and technical support" and not only acquisition of aircraft. Mr. Grimal said "we are interested in aviation in Ghana and we are exploring what we can do together" Wing commander Kwame Mamphey, Director of Operations of the Ghana Air Force, was present. GRi.
