At least 13 people have been killed in a fatal road crash involving a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace on the Sege-Ada Highway.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as the two vehicles were reportedly travelling from Sege towards Ada.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said 18 people were involved in the crash, with 13 pronounced dead.

Firefighters from the Sege Fire Station responded to the scene and assisted in rescuing victims and managing the casualties.

“The five survivors sustained critical injuries and were transported to the Sege Polyclinic for medical attention,” GNFS said.

Confirming the incident, Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) Alex King Nartey of the Public Relations Department of the GNFS Headquarters expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured victims a speedy and full recovery,” he said.

The cause of the crash and the identities of the deceased have not yet been disclosed.

Investigations are ongoing, with further details expected as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.
