Takoradi Missing Girls: We gave kidnappers ransom at a point – Spokesperson

Spokesperson for families of the 3 missing Takoradi girls, Michael Hayford Acquah has narrated how they made some payments to the kidnappers, hoping to get back their ‘long lost’ relatives.

He explained it was this ordeal that assisted them in the arrest of one of the suspects who later fled from police custody.

The suspect in question earlier revealed in court that a police investigator helped him break jail though he couldn’t reveal his name.

Expressing their displeasure with the turnout of events so far, the spokesperson in an interview with KSM said the families have lost total trust in the police.

This he explained, the families lost trust the very moment the suspect who was supposed to be in jail called to threaten them saying he ‘controls the police like that a remote’ and that they should send an amount of GHC3,000 if they are really interested in seeing their daughter ever again.

Michael said, the police reliably informed them that the main kidnapper (who is currently keeping the missing girls) had come to Ghana for another victim but they (police) did nothing about it and rather the only suspect they had, broke jail under their watch.

“The divisional commander ASP Ofori Donkor and Mr Ametefe told us that, John, the brain behind the missing girls is in Ghana to take away another victim. With this, we as a family were hoping john would be arrested. We thought the suspect was behind bars, we were expecting a call from the police to inform us that they have arrested the main kidnapper too. We didn’t. None of that happened. Only for us to receive a call from the suspect who was supposed to be in jail, asking us why we involved the police and that he controls them like a remote”.
