Some aggrieved market women at the Madina market are calling on police personnel to exercise their powers within the set jurisdiction and refrain from harassing them.

Speaking to www.ghanaweb.com during one of our tours, some of these women who were selling foodstuff with permit as food providers explained that they were being maltreated.

According to them, although they had been given permission to sell and they were doing that within the given areas in the markets, some police personnel were demanding that they move their wares.

"They are the ones who said we could come and sell, the man (President) spoke and we heard him also. Now we’ve mounted our wares in the market, and these are stores with permits, they are asking us to leave and go inside the markets. It is not fair” one trader told GhanaWeb.

They want the police to clearly define the jurisdictions so they can also feel free to do their trade and get some monies for their family’s upkeep.
