NDC presidential election slated for 23rd February 2019

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) party’s hierarchy has met to fix a new date for the upcoming party’s presidential election which was postponed due to a court Injunction that was placed on it.

National Chairman of the NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo said the injunction has been lifted because there has been a successful court settlement and also the party has met with all the seven aspirants having agreed on a new roadmap that would be followed to organize the upcoming NDC presidential elections.

Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo briefed the media about the schedule of the new timetable and he stated that, ‘’Tuesday 22nd of January there will be the vetting of candidates to Wednesday 23rd January and just after the candidate are cleared by the vetting committee they would be presented by the voters register’’.

He went on to add that arrangements have been made for any candidate who might be disqualified. He explained that the candidate has the right of appeal and has given them between 23rd to 25th January for the appeal process to go through. He said in view of that, the party has set up an appeal committee amidst other committees.

‘’Sample of poll would be made available on Saturday 26th January, 2019. Indeed representatives of various aspirants would be call to come and view the notice of poll and if they have nothing against it and they are in agreement with it then the final print of notice of poll will be done 28h of January 2019’’ Mr. added.

Printing of ballots papers for the presidential elections is expected to begin on the 3rd of February and end on the 17th of February 2019. The Electoral commission together with party’s committee to supervise the election would take delivery of the ballot being printed on 18 February 2019 for distribution to the various constituencies.




The parties finally stated that ‘’ the election is slated 23rd February 2019 and these are the roadmaps and we have also indicated that 276 polling centres would be opened in throughout the whole country and each constituency would have one polling station where election would take place. He noted.
