NDC coming in 2020 to rescue Ghanaians from 'clueless' Akufo-Addo gov't - Agbenyo

A Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fred Agbenyo, has cast doubts over the implementation of the double track system by the Akufo-Addo government.

According to him, the vision of the government to run its free SHS policy has been proven by all circumstances to be lame and off-the-cuff.

He blamed the seemingly conflicts in rolling out the double track system on President Akufo-Addo and his government's inability to have foresight.

On Monday, September 10, 2018, Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum in an interview with host of Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Kwami Sefa Kayi, indicated that the government is committed to the course of the double track system and doesn't want any parent or ward to suffer.

As part of measures to augment the double track system by government, the Ministry of Education under the auspices of President Nana Akufo-Addo has allocated 1.5 billion dollars to expand infrastructure at the various educational levels in the country.

He further noted that the government has "recruited over 19,000 teachers; graduate teachers and other educational workers. Now, we’re taking additional 8,800 . . . The number of people who have applied for NABCO is beyond imagination," targeted at improving the system.

But Mr. Agbenyo believes it is just hogwash because the ruling party has no clue how to salvage their free SHS programme.

He however warned the President not to compound the hardships of Ghanaians, saying "you will be going home in 2020 and NDC is coming. You’re going to heap all the burdens on us. I’m worried that we have to now sit down and put things in order to improve the lives of Ghanaians".

“Now you making it look as though the increment in enrolment just happened suddenly. As though you never anticipated it to happen that way; even at the time you began this free SHS, nobody said anything about shift system. Nobody mentioned this double track system. At what time did you dream of it?” he questioned.
