NDC berates EC over deletion of its members from register

The National Democratic Congress is angry at the Electoral Commission for deleting about 192 names of its sympathizers from the electoral roll at the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

The EC deleted the names after obtaining an order from the court.

According to the Commission the names were deleted because the individual failed to establish that they are residents in the area.

But the NDC is accusing its main contender, the NPP, of masterminding the deletion of the names. The Constituency Secretary of the NDC in the area Andrews Donkor told Starr News the party will resist attempts to disenfranchise its members.

“Most of our branch executives, women
organisers, branch chairmen, youth organisers who are residents at the polling station areas, their names were written, they were never served any writ to come to court to defend themselves only to realize that the EC has proceeded to court to delete their names. This is unfair, so what due diligence did the EC do to ascertain that the people are not residents in the area?,” he enquired.
