Meet Paul Chen: Chinese national called to the Ghana Bar in 2025

47-year-old Chinese national, Paul Chen, was among the batch of new lawyers officially called to the Bar on Friday, October 10, 2025.

He is an old student of the T I Ahmadiyya Secondary School and holds a law degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He moved to Ghana at a young age and currently engages in business in Kumasi.

“When I came to Ghana, I thought becoming a lawyer would be very useful. Legal knowledge is a powerful tool, and it will help me with my business here,” Chen explained in an interview with Mr Sly on YouTube, on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Reflecting on his time at the Ghana School of Law, Chen described the experience as challenging but rewarding.

He expressed gratitude to the lecturers and judges who guided him throughout his studies, acknowledging that their support made the journey much more manageable.

“It’s been a long journey, and without their help, it would have been a lot harder. I am very grateful,” he said.

The call-to-Bar ceremony included 824 new lawyers who had successfully completed their professional legal training and passed the Bar examinations.

It was attended by members of the Judiciary, the General Legal Council, distinguished members of the Bar, family members, and well-wishers.
