Former Black Stars head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, has dismissed reports suggesting he has distanced himself from the vacant Ghana coaching role following the departure of Otto Addo.
Reports circulating on social media claimed that Appiah was not interested in a return to the Black Stars job. However, sources close to the coach have described such claims as false and misleading.
According to the source, Appiah has never publicly or privately stated that he is unwilling to take up the role again, insisting that the reports are “fabricated propaganda.”
“Kwasi Appiah has never said anywhere that he is not interested in returning to serve Ghana,” the source told GhanaWeb.
The source further clarified that although Appiah is currently engaged with the Sudan national football team, where he remains gainfully employed, it does not mean he has ruled himself out of the Black Stars job.
The coaching position became a subject of public debate after Otto Addo’s exit, with several names being linked to the role, including the former Ghana coach.
Insiders maintain that the reports suggesting Appiah has distanced himself from the job are unfounded and should be treated as misinformation.
James Kwasi Appiah previously coached the Ghana national football team, leading the team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and later guiding them to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
His potential return continues to generate mixed reactions among fans, as the Ghana Football Association weighs its next move.
