The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has stated that the government expects the Black Stars to reach at least the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to him, the team has established itself as one of the best on the continent, having won the tournament four times in its history and must not settle for less.

As a result, his administration will support the team but expects them to change the narrative regarding their recent poor performances and deliver better results.
Speaking on Sports Check aired on GhanaWeb TV, Kofi Adams stressed that any performance below the quarter-final stage would be considered a failure under his watch.
“Considering our name and pedigree, anything below the quarter-finals means it would have been better if we hadn’t gone. For AFCON, anything below the quarter-final stage is unacceptable. We must set a standard and let the players know the flag they are holding.
“This is where the flag expects them to be, the foundation stone and nothing less. They can go all the way to win the gold, and we will celebrate them. But the foundation point is this,” he said.
