The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, says his work has been made significantly easier thanks to the clear directives of President John Dramani Mahama.

In an exclusive interview on GhanaWeb’s Sports Check program with Joel Eshun, Adams explained that the President’s insistence on transparency has provided the foundation for tackling long-standing challenges in Ghanaian sports.

“Well, the President made the work a little bit easier for me when he indicated clearly that he wanted publicity of many things, including our finances. Because mostly that is where the danger is,” he said.

He further revealed that transparency has been the remedy for the constant commotion surrounding the ministry.

“Where you are advised not to reveal this, not to reveal that, keep this quiet, that was what kept creating the problem. The solution is doing something different, and that difference is to bring transparency because transparency will build trust,” he added.

He emphasized that openness allows the public to understand what is happening, preventing unnecessary speculation and calming tensions in the sector.

Reflecting on his tenure, Kofi Adams highlighted key strides made in improving Ghana’s sports structures, while acknowledging the inherent challenges of managing a complex ecosystem.
