GES removes assistant headmaster over 'dirty' viral video scandal

The Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, Charles Akwasi Aidoo, has been removed from office following the circulation of a viral video on social media allegedly involving him in a compromised position with a female student.

In a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on September 29, 2025, the management of the school said it had taken the matter seriously and acted swiftly to safeguard the integrity of the teaching profession and ensure the welfare of students.

According to the statement, Aidoo has been prohibited from going to the school while thorough investigations are being conducted into the allegations.

The Service explained that the measure was necessary to maintain a safe environment for students while protecting the credibility of the institution.

The GES assured parents, students, and the general public that due process would be followed, stressing that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken in line with its code of conduct.

“The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of students,” the statement said.

The Service further reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of the teaching profession and emphasised that misconduct of any kind would not be tolerated.
