FLASHBACK: 'We know where the Takoradi kidnapped girls are' – CID boss

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah on Tuesday, 2nd April 2019 told Ghanaians that her outfit was in the known as to the whereabouts of the Takoradi kidnapped girls.

After her remarks, the DCOP received backlash from persons, demanding her to step down for her incompetence on retrieving the girls back to their families.

This incident saw several people take to social media to express concern over the mysterious case which began with the hashtag #BringbackourTaadigirls.

However, in a press briefing in Takoradi Monday 16th, 2019, the acting Inspector General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh revealed that the DNA test carried out on the human parts found in the vicinity of the suspected kidnapper’s home is that’s of the four missing girls.

The IGP also announced that the families of the girls have been informed by the police about its findings.

The whereabouts of three of the missing Takoradi girls – Ruthlove Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie – who were kidnapped between August and December 2018 became a mystery several months after the issue gained national prominence.

The Ghana Police Service has revealed that it is getting closer to finding three kidnapped girls, a saga that has grabbed the nation’s attention for months.

“We know where the girls are,” the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah told reporters Tuesday.

She appealed to families of the victims to “keep on keeping on.” The families have been desperate for news of their daughters and their whereabouts since the first, Priscilla Bentum, was kidnapped in August 2018.

Two more girls were grabbed in December before the story grabbed nationwide attention. Joy News has launched a #bringbackourTaadigirls campaign repeatedly in news bulletins.

A suspect in the case, a Nigerian named Samuel Udoetuk Wills was assaulted in and outside court the last time he appeared March 4, 2019.
