Be bold and vocal – Kofi Adams to new executives

Former National Organiser of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has urged all newly elected executives of the party to exhibit boldness and courage in the discharge of their duties.

Kofi Adams, whose tenure as National Organiser saw the party move into opposition in a very humiliating manner, is optimistic the new crop of leaders with the total support from old executives and party stalwarts will do well.

“All the new executives duly elected by party delegates are capable of delivering on their mandate. My advice to them is that, they should exhibit boldness and courage in all that they do. They must not be seen as weak or persons gripped with fear so much so that even if they have something to say, they are intimidated by others” he told Akwasi Nsiah on Anopa Kasapa, Monday.

Kofi Adams has declared interest to contest for a Member of Parliament in the next elections on an NDC ticket after bowing out as a national executive officer for the party.

“If the party opens nominations some time later, you’ll possibly see my name in the list of candidates, God willing.”

Kofi Adams declined to seek re-election at the 9th National Delegates Conference, following his ambition to join the crop of lawmakers to be elected to Ghana’s parliament in the 2020 elections.

Deep throat sources say Kofi Adams still eyes for the Buem Constituency seat in the Volta Region.

Adams in 2013 filed his nominations for the same seat together with some twelve others to contest when the seat became vacant following the untimely death of Henry Kamal Ford who was the Member of Parliament for the area.

But Kofi Adams in 2013 was disqualified by the National Executive Committee of the party for being under suspension for his alleged involvement in a secret recording with Gabby Otchere-Darko, cousin of the sitting president to make the then government of late Prof. Evans Atta-Mills unpopular during the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang (FONKA) and the Get Atta-Mills Elected (GAME) campaigns for the flagbearership slot of the party.

Mr. Adams will have his face on the parliamentary primary ballot sheet of the NDC in the region alongside other contestants come next year. However, its unclear whether incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Buem, Daniel Kwesi Ashiamah may stand again for the seat.
