The Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohunu, has arrived in Akwatia to personally assess security arrangements ahead of the highly anticipated by-election set for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

A video shared on the X page of Channel One TV on Friday, August 29, 2025, captured the moment the IGP touched down into, engaging directly with police officers on the ground.

More than 5,000 personnel from the Ghana Police Service are expected to be deployed for the election.

Among them, 600 officers have already completed a rigorous five-day intensive training at the High Risk Operations Training Centre (HROT-C) in Akyeremanteng, Eastern Region.

Their drills included rappelling, precision shooting, vehicle stop-and-search, crowd control and human rights protocols.

The IGP has reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding all stakeholders in the electoral process, including voters, electoral officers, political parties and the media.
