The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it will begin printing ballot papers for the upcoming Akwatia by-election on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Addressing journalists in Accra on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, following a meeting convened by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Benjamin Bano Bioh, disclosed that all preparations for the by-election are complete.

He stated that procurement processes have been finalized and the Commission is ready to deliver a smooth and credible by-election in Akwatia.

“As of now, we will start printing the ballots from tomorrow. Procurement has already been completed. We have procured all the materials required for the election, so we are ready,” he remarked.

Bano-Bioh also urged political stakeholders to abide by electoral rules.

“We are poised to deliver on our mandate in a professional manner, and we call on political parties to play by the rules,” he noted.

The by-election, scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025, follows the passing of the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
