Eastern regional chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Tawiah Boateng, has called on President Nana Akufo-Addo honourably resign because he has disgraced Ghanaians and his own people in Akyem.

He was reacting to the dismissal of Mr Boakye Agyarko as the Energy Minister over the renegotiated Ameri deal. Dismissing Boakye Agyarko he lamented was an attempt to save the president from embarrassment.

The executive approval given the renegotiated deal he said was not only disgraceful but an indictment on the president.

On the reshuffling of ministers, the regional chairman said he is sad that the president failed to reduce the number of appointees but increased it by 2.

He slammed the president for failing to justify why he has increased the number and reasons for reassigning and appointing new persons. On the Information Minister Dr Mustapha Hamid being moved to the Zongo and Inner Development, he said, ‘’after Dr Hamid did all the dirty jobs for Nana Addo, peddling lies to save the government from being embarrassed, he has been asked to go to the Zongo Ministry.’’

He was expecting Carlos Ahenkorah, Deputy Trades Minister; Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Asenso to be sacked due to the number of scandals and corruption allegations levelled against them.

‘’Nana Addo has also disgraced himself and Ghanaians. He should have sacked himself. He signed the deal and later said he was misled? He should have sacked himself and not Agyarko. The disgrace he has brought on Ghana is unprecedented,’’ he added.
