The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has alleged that the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), Jean Mensa, will be the next target for removal after the current government successfully ousts Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
According to him, intelligence they have gathered indicates that petitions for the removal of Jean Mensa and her deputies have already been prepared.
Nana B claimed that the petition for the removal of the EC commissioners will be submitted immediately after the Chief Justice, who is currently facing three petitions, is removed.
"We have intel that they have already written a petition for the removal of the electoral commissioner(s). What they are waiting for is to finish with the Chief Justice. As soon as they are done, they will let the people who wrote the Electoral Commission petitions bring them," he said in Twi during an interview with Adom FM on April 28, 2025.
The NPP National Organiser said that the steps being taken by the government are setting the country on a dangerous path.
"This is a dangerous path the NDC wants to lead us down. All well-meaning Ghanaians must rise up. Ghana was not sold to His Excellency President Mahama… we voted, and he received an overwhelming endorsement," he added.
